July 2015

01 July 2015

July has been a busy month. Spending time with family, friends and catching up with all of those things that we seem to put off until we are back here have been the order of the day.

Photography also came into the list of things to do and managing to catch up with Adam Brice, and best mate Robert Auzner mean't someone to take photo's with, to learn from, to experience new places, and to just enjoy hanging out with.

Burns Beach became the hunting ground for the White Winged Fairy Wren and then so get wet taking some coastal shots as the sun went down.

Our quarry, the White Winged Fairy Wren

Sunglow on Rocks

A simple scene but a good spot to learn some more techniques.

Sunglow

Dodging the spray to get this was fun.

Last sun

The last of the direct sun on the rocks.

Adam at work

Taking nice shots sometimes means getting wet.

Rocky Sunset

The view after getting wet.

The next place we visited (three times) to get photo's from was nearer to home and was at Point Peron.

Sunset Window

Couldn't get quite low enough without hanging upside down off the cliff edge to get the sun through the window.

Point Peron Beach

Moody skies starting to form over one of the beaches at Point Peron.

Point Peron Rock

Taking shots into the sun mean't using a Nisi 10 stop filter (another learning curve).

Point peron Rocks

Perched on a rock shelf with nothing underneath except the water made us focus on more than the scene ahead.

Point Peron Stormy Sky

The clouds built up nicely as the sun was setting.

Point Peron Sunset

The sun is almost down.

Point Peron Panorama

Sunset finally arrives as the clouds form more fabulous formations.

Not all photography this month was courtesy of the landscape and our youngest grandson's Saturday morning Aussie Rules game made for some more learning curves - moving targets!

He gathers

Kindrael gathering the ball as the opposition comes barging in.

He marks

Kindrael found space among the crowd and the ball came to him for an easier mark.

He marks again

Marking high this time as the opposition tries to steal it from behind.

Dodges and kicks

Kindrael dodging the pack and successfully kicking around an opponent.

Unloading

Not the best shot of Kindrael unloading on the fly but...his shot was more successful than my focusing.

Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will.
